Supportive therapy for your mental health and wellbeing journey.
Supportive therapy for your mental health and wellbeing journey.
My name is Rachel, and I'd like to share a bit about myself. I have over 30 years professional experience of working face to face and managing projects supporting people, in a wide variety of settings, for both statutory and voluntary organisations.
This experience includes working for domestic abuse charities, addiction services and a national eating disorders charity. I have also worked for Relate and volunteered with the Samaritans. As area manager for a national children's charity, I oversaw counselling and therapeutic services.
Gradually my career has focused on supporting adults with their wellbeing, drawing upon my professional background. I work with most issues including relationships, self-confidence and self-esteem, anxiety and depression, parenting, domestic abuse, transgender and identity, mens mental health, eating disorders and menopause.
I began my career working as a youth worker, delivering therapeutic programmes for young people at risk of exclusion, experiencing bullying, struggling to attend school and helped young people improve their self-esteem and develop strategies to cope. I went on to work for CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services), providing advice and support to professionals about mental health, as well as working with children and young people to improve emotional well-being, and parents to better support them to support their child.
Alongside my career, I was also a foster carer for 20 children and young people. I really enjoy supporting parents and young people around fostering and adoption, as well as some of the trauma that might be associated with this.
As a person I have been described as warm, empathic and approachable.
I am committed to continuous professional development and keep up with current research and training areas of interest.

Focusing on your own individual needs, we can work together to empower you to achieve your own goals. Whether or not you've had counselling before, it can be difficult to take the first step. You can be assured you will be met with a warm and non-judgmental approach and a safe space where you can feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and emotions, whatever the issues.
Sessions are 50mins which can take place face- to-face, and I am able to offer in person sessions at two locations, Poundbury in Dorset and Yeovil in Somerset.
Alternatively, I also offer online and telephone counselling.
I am a fully qualified counsellor, and an individual member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and work within the BACP ethical framework.
I hold a current DBS and am registered with the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office).
Sessions are £55 for 50 mins.
I do offer some concessionary rates including for student counsellors. If you would like to book a session, or have a brief call before booking, please email or fill out an enquiry form via the chat icon.
During our first session together we can establish what you hope to gain from your counselling sessions and agree how we will work together.
It's always helpful to run through some questions so that I get a sense of your background and who you are. I will be able to answer any questions you may bring and put you at ease so that you feel comfortable moving forward.
Talking things through with a trained counsellor offers numerous benefits for personal growth and well-being. Putting yourself first and making the time to have space for your thoughts can be helpful in day-to-day life whether you've had counselling before or this is your first experience.
Counselling can help individuals understand their thoughts and feelings, improve relationships, manage and reduce stress and develop coping mechanisms for difficult life events. Furthermore, talking things through can boost your self-awareness, confidence and resilience, and ultimately lead you to a greater sense of self and purpose.
By exploring your feelings and emotions, doing what you want to do, not what you feel you should do, you can move closer to your true self. This can give you a sense of purpose and fulfilment, allowing you to live in alignment with your true values and beliefs.
